DEK released the latest of the Instinctiv series printers, the Horizon 02i with position-adjustable 15-inch touch screen LCD of the Micron range. Micron-class low friction gullwing machine covers are fitted as standard, allowing deployment in clean environments as well as simplifying access to the machine during product changeovers and consumable replenishment. The company’s printer frame and position sensing technologies, also shared with the Micron class machines, enables yield in processes requiring wafer level resolution such as flip chip assembly and direct chip attach. The Horizon 02i printer achieves 1,6 Cpk (process capability index) at ±25 µm full paste on pad process capability, at 12-s cycle time. The printer has a board size range up to 508 mm × 508 mm, and is fitted with ESD-safe transport rails by default. Further default features include DEK’s Intelligent Scalable Controller Area Network (ISCAN) technology, which enhances diagnostics and supports predictive maintenance in conjunction with the company’s Internet-based support services. Options include the DEK Gold camera machine vision package, which accelerates fiducial capture and 2-D inspection by leveraging a 8,5 mm × 11 mm field of view, image recognition algorithms, and lighting. Customers can also use Hawkeye 1200, a deposit verification system, to enlarge board coverage within the standard machine cycle time. The system supports traceability, allowing Horizon 02i to be used as a pre-placement solution in applications such as medical and automotive assembly. The Hawkeye 400 system is also available as an option.
The printer benefits from the graphical user interface that presents step-by-step guidance for machine operation, supported by menu options for operation and training. The configuration also supports the Instinctiv TimeToGo upgrade, which allows operators to optimize replenishment intervals for paste, paper and USC solvent, to predict and plan machine stoppages.
