CiA 447 version 2.0 released

April 20, 2012. CiA has released the second version of the CiA 447 CANopen profile for special-purpose car add-on devices. The four-part specification defines open networks for taxi, police cars, and cars for handicapped drivers. Carmakers and suppliers have standardized the gateway to the in-vehicle networks as well as application-specific functionality for add-on devices such as taximeter, radio hand-free conversation units, roof bar light and sound modules. The first cars are already equipped with CiA 447 compliant gateways. The number of CiA 447 devices will increase in the next month. CiA is going to organize a special information event for suppliers of cars for handicapped drivers.
