Robust and compact I/O-module and compact PLC with large I/O set-up.
CrossFire FX is an extremely compact and rugged I/O-module and controller designed for mobile applications. The I/O set-up is mixed and there are a large number of I/O-channels. This in combination with a large production volume in a highly automated process results in a very competitive price per I/O-channel.
The electronic packaging technology provides improved sealing and density by using a unique enclosure and connector design. During the CrossFire FX manufacturing process, flexible polyamide circuitry is attached to an aluminum sheet. The sheet is then formed into an enclosure, and a watertight seal is applied. This enables the unit to survive harsh environments while efficiently managing thermal loads from high-current electrical switching.
Every critical step of the assembly process is automated and the process has an exhaustive tracking system. This improves both quality and reliability.
CrossFire FX is designed for harsh environments on mobile equipment:
- Voltage supply range is 9 VDC to 36 VDC
- IP65 protection is 100 % confirmed on every unit produced
- GoreTex® breather equalizes pressure through environmental changes, while keeping moisture from entering enclosure
- Integrated ferrites on all connector pins are applied for enhanced EMC protection
- The unit has been tested extensively for shock and vibration
CrossFire FX has a mixed I/O set-up and a large number of I/O-channels. It has 77 I/O ports which can be individually configured to provide various types of I/O.
The I/O is focused on hydraulic control tasks typically found on vehicles and working machines. I/O channels are listed below:
- Up to 35 digital inputs, 6 of which are debounced in hardware
- Up to 42 digital outputs
- 28 high-side drivers (PNP) with overload/short-circuit protection
- 14 low-side drivers (NPN)
- Up to 20 PWM (pulse-width modulation) outputs,14 of which are regulated (current feedback)
- Up to 9 pulse counter inputs, 2 of which accept sine wave inputs
- Up to 34 analog inputs, 14 of which are normally used for regulated PWM feedback
When used as a slave in decentralised CANopen systems, CrossFire FX is supplied with the CANopen profile CiA 401. A special feature is that a complete simulation package for application development and testing can be offered together with the unit. This package makes it possible to execute the nodes simulated, in a standard PC. You can connect the simulated nodes, via commercially available CAN interface cards for PC, to other, physical nodes in a system. Hereby, you create a powerful environment for debugging and testing of your complete system.
CrossFire FX is also available with CoDeSys RunTime, which makes the unit ready to operate as a stand-alone unit, master in a CANOpen network or as an intelligent node in a distributed system.
With its powerful C167 core, CrossFire FX can also be used as a controller, executing its own application as stand-alone unit or as a node in a distributed system. Depending on the application and the preference of the developer, different languages and tools can be used for developing such applications:
- C/C++ with tools like Tasking or Keil Microvision
- IEC 61131-3 with CoDeSys
