VME-CAN4 interface board

Availability
In stock
VME to CAN Interface
  • Up to 4 independent CAN or DeviceNet interfaces
  • CAN Controller SJA1000 (2.0 A/B)
  • Electrical isolation by optocouplers
  • ISO 11898 CAN data link layer
  • Data bit-rate up to 1 Mbit/s
  • Multi-Net support
  • Up to 16 CAN nets
  • Support of higher layer protocols (e.g. CANopen)

Each CAN interface of the VME-CAN4 is equipped with its own microcontroller 68331 at 20 MHz clock frequency with a separate working memory of 256 kbytes. Program updates can be loaded into the Flash EPROM via the VMEbus.
The CAN data transfer from and to the VMEbus is performed via a shared RAM with a capacity of 512 kbytes and FIFOs, which guarantee for data security and consistency for all CAN channels simultaneously.

The CAN channels are electrically isolated from each other as well as from the VME section. With electrical isolation as a standard, ESD guarantees a bit-rate of 1 Mbit/s for a bus length of 37 m, if the other CAN participants are equipped with equivalent CAN interfaces.

By means of the shared RAM interface as well as the FIFO interface to the VMEbus section, a use of the board with various operating systems can easily be performed. CANopen is supported for VxWorks and Linux operating systems.
